The pre-season action kicks off on Saturday 4 February with a south island derby when the Crusaders host the Highlanders in Darfield in the Farmlands Cup. After playing out a 19-19 draw in the inaugural Farmlands Cup match in Waimumu last February, both teams were keen to perform on the rural stage again said Farmlands CEO Peter Reidie. “The Farmlands Cup is all about bringing rugby back to the grassroots – the local communities that foster our future rugby stars,” Reidie said.
