Assistant coach Tyler Bleyendaal said the Highlanders would be high-energy and physical under the roof of Forsyth Barr Stadium and in front of their fans.

The home team had a challenging set piece, and the Hurricanes are preparing for that challenge while looking to continue doing things well in critical areas.

The challenge for the Hurricanes coaching group was finding a balance between the opposition's threats and their own strengths.

While the Hurricanes were pleased with their results so far, they have had to work hard for some of their wins, while they have also been able to spread the playing load across their squad, especially against the Rebels last weekend.

Bleyendaal said, "They're getting opportunities, which is great."

That meant some selection difficulties resulted, but it was for the selectors to work through those.

"It has been good to have a fit squad and to have those guys available to select from, you don't always have that luxury. So, we're aware that someone could fall over and you've got to have depth to replace them, and we are pleased with how the guys played at the weekend."

For a player like first five-eighths Aidan Morgan, who hadn't played because Brett Cameron had played so well, the chance was invaluable.

"It shows his maturity and how that's grown because he also had to play with a whole bunch of new players also playing for the first time. He did well with his skill set, which was pleasing, and led the group throughout the week.

"It's been tough with our squad, and that's why it was pleasing to see him and the others perform."

The winning streak they have enjoyed was viewed as a representation of the team's effort and preparation. But they were aware they could have lost a few of those games.

"Everyone's applying themselves, and we've challenged the players throughout pre-season to prepare for some of these moments. There's also a bit of luck, grit, and determination involved.

Bleyendaal said All Blacks halfback TJ Perenara's starting return after his Achilles tendon injury had been good.

"He looked fast and sharp, speed to the ruck, speed running with the ball in hand. He was exciting and he controlled our exit zone. He and Aiden led the week well, it was a pleasing performance."

Competition for the halfback's starting role was intense, as it was for many positions across the side.

Bleyendaal confirmed that fullback Ruben Love would be available for selection.

"He's a bit banged up, but he's good to go. He's always positive and if we get through training today we'll see where he's at."
