Lolesio’s Farewell Fight: Brumbies Ready for Semifinal Scrap

Six times the Brumbies have fallen at that playoff stage since that 2013 26-23 win over the Bulls.

But after beating the Hurricanes 35-28 in Canberra at the weekend, first five-eighths Noah Lolesio, 25, said the Brumbies systems would be the key to success.

He told Rugby.com.au, "We know that our game works – it's very effective and efficient – so we just have to back our systems and game plan.

"If everyone does their job to the best of their ability, hopefully, we put ourselves in a good position to get a good result."

Lolesio has some cause for optimism. In their only outing against the Chiefs in 2025, the Brumbies took them to the wire in a 34-49 loss that only blew out from a five-point margin in the final five minutes.

The Blues showed how the Chiefs could be beaten over the weekend.

"It shows that if you show up physically with the right mindset, you put yourself in a good position to win.

"That's where our minds are at as a team. We know it's going to be a physical game, so you have to roll up your sleeves."

Lolesio has been a factor in the Brumbies' success, but when they finish their campaign, it will be his last game before heading to Japan.

"I'm giving everything into this game and this weekend if selected. Knowing that it could be my last, I won't leave any stone unturned. This organisation have been so good to me every year since I came to Canberra as a 17-year-old.

"It's a night game; it'll be a bit wet and dewy, so it'll be tough up front. The crowd gets behind them, and the cowbells come out. It's an awesome atmosphere, and it's a great challenge for us as well.

"The last three or four years have led to this moment and I can't wait."
